About Wiser Jewelry

It was twenty-five years before Steve Wiser realized his dream of becoming a professional jeweler. He grew up in the rolling hills of southeastern Washington State, crafting jewelry as a hobby. He finally gave up a career in purchasing to pursue his dream of making jewelry for a living. Although largely self-taught, in 2003 Steve obtained his Graduate Jeweler Certificate from the prestigious Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco.

As one of his premier lines of jewelry, Steve blended his love of jewelry-making with his desire to tread lightly on the earth, and found it fitting to start with designs inspired by Pacific Northwest Native American artwork. He handcrafts all pieces from 100% post-industrial and post-consumer gold and silver (in a soon-to-be-solar-powered studio).
He prefers to use lab-created diamonds and gems which are physically & chemically identical to the mined gems they replace (without the social & environmental impacts/waste), and pearls that are sustainably harvested or cultured.
Wiser Jewelry uses cleaning and finishing solutions

that are less caustic to people and the environment  (for example, alum from the spice rack instead of
nitric and sulfuric acids). More environmentally and
socially-responsible jewelry pieces, including
unique wedding bands, will be added to the website
throughout 2008.
